Week 1 Online

Online Kick-off

Lesson 0

In this online kick-off, we'll walk you through what we expect from you and what you can count on from us. You'll dive straight into the psychology of how people actually learn, so you leave with a clear plan for the weeks ahead.

Week 2-10 Online & Practical 3 online modules + 3 practical lessons

The Foundation

Lessons 1 - 3

We start by building a solid foundation in anatomy and teaching you to think in terms of movement. You'll get an in-depth look at the trunk, hips, and shoulders. Then, in the practical sessions, the anatomy really comes alive: you'll learn to read movement patterns and coach them with confidence.

Week 11-16 Online & Practical 2 online modules + 2 practical lessons

Taking charge

Lessons 4 & 5

We dive into physiology. You'll learn how the body fuels itself with energy and how training can reshape it. You'll write your own program, take charge of the group, and get feedback on how it lands.

Week 17-22 Online & Practical 2 online modules + 2 practical lessons

Muscle growth & Strength

Lessons 6 & 8

You'll learn what strength really is and how muscle growth happens. From there, we turn that theory into a deeper dive on programming training for individual clients.

Week 23-25 Online 1 online module

Nutrition & Lifestyle

Lesson 7

Using the biopsychosocial model, you'll come to understand just how complex change in nutrition and lifestyle really is. And through an intake, you'll learn to prescribe personal, concrete actions a client can actually run with.

Week 26-28 Online & Practical 1 online module + 1 practical lesson

Intake

Lesson 9

The dress rehearsal for the exam. Conversation techniques, intake structure, and the intake form. You'll run an intake with a fellow student and get targeted feedback.

My first course that I actually finished. I learned so much about the body, the mind, training principles, and about myself.

Official Milo personal trainer, in the pocket!

Andrea Pisano
Andrea Pisano

From burned out and lost to rebuilding my body, mind and purpose. Today I'm officially a Milo Personal Trainer.

"I have trained for years, but the real depth and the reasoning behind many exercises always remained a mystery. Halfway through the course I suddenly started spotting energy leaks, butt winks and limited range of motion everywhere. The knowledge and depth MILO gave me now allows me to make every session, every exercise, every minute in the gym genuinely valuable. The mentors are not only highly skilled but also warm and invested in you. They have become my example of the ideal coach."

After six months of hard work, I can now officially call myself a Milo Certified Personal Trainer. Challenging topics like coaching, lifestyle, training principles, and anatomy, but thanks to the drive and expertise of the mentors, I have mastered the material well. And now it's time to really get to work as a personal trainer. Can't wait.

Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We're here to help.

How much study time should I allocate per week?
On average 8-12 hours per week, excluding practical lessons (10 lessons of 3.5 hours in total).
When do I start?
Courses start in and around May, September, and January. You can always register for the next course, and sometimes for a subsequent period by getting in contact with us. After your registration, you will have immediate access to the online learning environment so that you can prepare optimally.
Do I need prior knowledge?
No. We believe it is important that you have an open mind and a willingness to learn. We do expect you to train enthusiastically on your own, particularly strength training, and to know basic exercises. Are you unsure? Contact us, and we will discuss your situation.
What is the duration of the course?
The course lasts a total of 33 weeks, from the kick-off to the exam. Potentially 36-38 weeks if you need to retake an exam. You can always start online immediately after registering.
How often do I have practical lessons?
You have a practical lesson every three weeks. In total, you have 10 practical lessons, including your exam.
What if I miss a class?
That is very unfortunate. Attending all classes is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. If you are unable to attend a class, please let us know as soon as possible. We can then see if you can join another group or book a PT session with one of the mentors. Please note: classes 9 and 10 are mandatory.
Can I move on to another group?
Yes. Should an unexpected situation arise that temporarily prevents you from participating, it is possible to transfer to the next cohort in consultation. Placement is subject to availability. We charge a transfer fee of €500 for this transition.
What if I don't pass the exam?
You will receive a free on-site retake after 3 weeks. Should you fail the retake, you can retake the exam via a private session or with another group at the mentor rate.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes, in 7 installments of €499. The installment payments involve more administrative work, which is why you are paying one extra installment.
Can I start my own business after the course?
Yes. Many alumni start as self-employed personal trainers, join a gym, or build it up gradually alongside their current job. Your mentors work on the gym floor themselves and share how they did it: from your first paying clients to rates and invoicing.
Can I work abroad with this diploma?
In the Netherlands personal training is not a protected profession, so no course carries an official government accreditation. What you can do: after the Personal Trainer course you register with EREPS, the European register for exercise professionals, at EQF level 3 (Fitness Instructor) and level 4 (Personal Trainer). That is not a work permit and it is nowhere mandatory, but it is a level a foreign employer can place. A Dutch diploma on its own often is not, because they do not know our education system.
